A 5″ laptop wouldn’t work for anyone except Blackberry addicts and then why bother since they have their own tiny keyboards. 9″ and about 2 pounds is what these are coming out to and that’s about as small a keyboard as I want to try to touch type on. When laptop manufacturers decided everyone wanted a 15-17″ laptop is when I stopped being interested in laptops at all. Why would I want one, I have a desktop and that’s where it would sit because it’s too big to lug around. When Dell and others realized there was a gap to fill, they tried to fill it with $2000+ ultra portables which still left a huge gap where the average consumers pocketbook differs from the high dollar business travellers. That’s where the Eee, while creating a durable computer for kids, accidentally found their niche. Now everyone, including Dell, wants a part of that untapped market. I had an Eee 701 for a while but sold it when I heard the 900s were coming out. It was great! I could drop it in my bag and go about my business then, when I happened across free wireless access, I’d whip it out and check my e-mail. Imagine carrying something around because you “might” want to check your e-mail, not because you absolutely can’t get out of carrying it. This is what a “notebook” was meant to be!
